What Is Radiology Technician Jobs

Radiology technicians or radiologic technologists are medical professionals who are responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures such as X-rays, computed tomography (CT) scans, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. They are often the first medical professionals to view medical images, and they help doctors diagnose medical conditions. Radiology technicians must be knowledgeable about radiation safety, anatomy, and physiology, as well as the operating of medical imaging equipment. 

Education and Training: Radiology technician jobs must complete a two-year associate’s degree program in radiologic technology from an accredited college or university. During their studies, students learn about radiation safety, anatomy, physiology, and medical imaging procedures. They also receive hands-on training with medical imaging equipment. After completing the program, students must pass the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) exam in order to become certified. 

On-the-Job Responsibilities: Radiology technicians are responsible for performing a variety of imaging procedures. They must prepare patients for the exams by explaining the procedure, positioning the patient, and applying contrast materials. They also must operate a variety of imaging equipment, including X-ray machines, CT scanners, and MRI machines. Technicians must also process the images to ensure quality and accuracy. Additionally, they must work with healthcare professionals to ensure that all procedures are performed in accordance with safety standards.
