MacBook batteries work by storing electrical energy in a chemical reaction. This reaction occurs when lithium ions are inserted into the anode and cathode of the battery. When the battery is plugged in, this usually provides enough electricity to start up your computer.

If your Macbook battery isn’t holding a charge as well as it used to, it might be time for a replacement. Follow these steps to replace your Macbook battery:

1) Shut down your Macbook and unplug the power adapter from the wall.

2) Remove the screws that hold the bottom case of the computer together.

3) Lift off the bottom case of your Macbook and locate the battery. You will see two connectors – one at each end of the battery.

4) Disconnect both connectors from the battery and set them aside.

5) Loosen the screws that hold in the old battery and remove them carefully. Be sure to save all of the electrical connections!

6) Install the new battery in place by tightening the screws that were saved earlier. Replace the top case and screw it in place. Plug in the power adapter and turn on your MacBook!
